Establishment:
Following
the failure of the turf industry to agree to the establishment of
a APC producers committee at the poll conducted in May 1999. The
Commission at the request of the Turf Growers Association then agreed
to provide the functions of the Act to a turf producers voluntary
committee established by the Association. Under Section 19 of
the Act a voluntary producers’ committee functions in the same manner
as APC producers committees except that participation by producers
and payment of fee for service is voluntary.
Following
Ministerial approval for both the procedures under Section 19 and
the voluntary fee for service, the Turf Growers Voluntary Committee
was established in December 1999, turf producers were then invited
to participate and contribute to the fee for service. The Voluntary
Committee fee for service collections commenced from January 2000.
Committee
Membership:
There
is provision for 7 positions on the Committee, 5 members of the
Committee are made up of TGA executive members.
Functions:
The
services that are provided to the Committee for the benefit of turf
producers cover all service functions listed in Section 12.1.
