APC STRAWBERRY PRODUCERS' COMMITTEE Establishment: In 1995 the Strawberry Growers Association requested that the APC conduct a poll amongst Western Australian strawberry growers to gauge their interest in establishing a producers committee for the Western Australian strawberry growing industry. The Commission conducted a successful poll of producers and subsequently established the APC Strawberry Producers’ Committee. Committee Membership: The Committee consists of five members, and represents all main strawberry growing areas in Western Australia. On expiration of tenure the Commission calls for expressions of interest from growers who might be interested in applying for membership on the Committee. Functions: The services which the Committee is endorsed to provide include all service functions listed in Section 12.1 of the APC Act 1998, except (la), which was introduced to the Act when it was amended in 2000. Fee for Service Returns are remitted electronically in a Microsoft Excel Return Form Compliance: Collection of WA strawberry industry fee for service is regulated by the Agricultural Produce (Horticultural Industry) Regulations 2001 Committee Activity: The APC Strawberry Producers’ Committee funds a number of research projects and industry initiatives. The Committee’s vision on behalf of the industry is to further advance the industry through increased domestic fruit sales by improving the flavour and quality of WA grown strawberries and encouraging appropriate marketing tailored to varieties. |
