APC AVOCADO PRODUCERS' COMMITTEE

The APC Avocado Producers’ Committee was established in 1995. The Committee covers all Western Australian avocado producers, except avocado producers in the Carnarvon irrigation area.

Functions:

The Committee is enabled to provide services (a) to (k) as listed in Section 12.1 of the APC Act.

Committee Activity:

Committee initiatives include market inspection, pest monitoring, promotion, research and technology transfer. A review of Committee activities can be found in the APC Annual Report.

Each year the Committee calls for Expressions of Interest in relation to suggestions on how the Committee should direct its activities (within the confines of the APC Service Functions) for the coming financial year.

Fee for Service:

As the result of industry consultation the Fee for Service for the avocado industry was set at : $0.00 per kilogram as of 1 July 2010.

Fee for Service payments made during the 10/11 financial year of over $20.00 have been automatically refunded to producers.

Producers who have paid under $20.00 Fee for Service during the 2010/11 year and who wish to have their payments refunded to them are requested to contact the Commisison to arrange a refund.

Fee for Service Returns are remitted electronically in the icon FSS Rates and Return form.

Committee Membership:

The Committee consists of six members who represent the main avocado growing areas near Perth and Manjimup-Pemberton area.

In line with good Committee governance the Committee strives to achieve a balanced Board, with members possessing experience in a range of areas.

Committee members are elected for a three year period, and may apply for re-election once their period of tenure has expired.
