Mr Ray Moir
APC Commissioner
Ray is a Member of the Australian Institute of Management and a Fellow of Australian Institute of Company Directors.

After a successful career with multinational companies in management and marketing Ray decided to head West in 1982 and started a turf farm. Turf growing in Western Australia was in its infancy, and Carabooda Roll On Instant Lawn quickly became the biggest operation in WA at that time.

Some major projects undertaken were, supply of all the grass to WACA, Subiaco Oval, Links at Kennedy Bay , Araluen, Glen Iris and Secret Harbour and the grassing of numerous new subdivisions. During the Asian economic boom in the early 90`s Ray shipped grass from Perth for 17 golf courses in SE Asia and for 3 polo fields for the Sultan of Brunei.

Ray became a founding Director of the Turf Producers Association, whose mission was to develop the industry and achieve Government recognition. Ray instituted a levy vote and successfully introduced a Federal Statutory R&D Levy plus joined the turf industry as an A Class Member of Horticulture Australia and acted as inaugural CEO for 2 years to put the group on a firm footing.

Ray now works as a consultant to various turf farms, sports facilities and is the Horticultural Advisor to the Water Corporation.

Ray has a keen interest in environmental issues, climate change and carbon sequestration. Ray believes that all of Australia`s agricultural and horticultural industries must aim for environmental excellence, plus play their part in reducing the effects of climate change in order to remain sustainable and internationally competitive.

For recreation Ray and his wife enjoy spending time on the family Bertram Flybridge Cruiser - fishing, cruising and over nighting on their mooring at Herring Bay (Garden Island).

Ray was appointed to the Commission in January 2010 for a three year term to January 2013.
