Graeme is a former Director General of Agriculture in Western Australia. and was Head of School Department of Agriculture and environment and Director of Muresk Institute at Curtin University of Technology from 2004 until 2009 and currently holds an adjunct professorial position at Curtin.

Graeme has served on a number of national and state boards and committees over a number of years and is currently a member for the Board of the Grains Research and Development Corporation.

After graduating from the University of Western Australia Graeme worked as a extension advisor at Merredin before completing a Doctor of Philosophy at Oxford under a Rhodes scholarship. He then worked in the Kimberley based in Kununurra and as Commissioner of Soil Conservation where he played a role in the development of the landcare movement. Dr Robertson has a strong interest in agriculture development and in particular ensuring that agricultural policies and investment in enhance the productivity and profitability of the industry.

Graeme was first appointed to the Commission in January 2010 for a period of 18 months until July 2011. He has now been re-appointed to the Commission for a further term from 19 July 2011 to 9 July 2014.
